We offer you quality boutique accommodation on scenic Otago Peninsula. Located halfway between Dunedin and the Royal Albatross and Yellow-eyed Penguin Colonies. Chy~an~Dowr is situated in Broad Bay, directly across the road from a small beach.
Originally built as a general store in approx. 1905 and rebuilt in 1925 to the existing house, the general store existed until 1971 when it was converted to a private home. In 1993 Chy~an~Dowr opened as a Bed & Breakfast and since then we have welcomed many guests from all over the world.

Chy~an~Dowr" has two accommodation options available either as:
- Bed & Breakfast with a served full breakfast or with a breakfast basket in your room to be enjoyed at your convenience.
As Bed & Breakfast option we have either the Canterbury suite or the Peninsula suite available. We take no more than two parties at any one time, you are assured of our personal attention.
- Self Contained with sole use of the house, this consists of three bedrooms, one ensuite and one bathroom, large lounge and kitchen. Breakfast provisions provided. Can sleep up to 5 people.

The Canterbury suite The Canterbury suite, consists of a bedroom with King-size bed, through an archway a small room with a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities and an ensuite bathroom. The bathroom is accessible from within the bedroom and has a shower, washbasin and toilet. Bathrobes and a hairdryer are provided
This room has a TV, DVD, fridge and electric heaters. The bed has an electric blanket, cotton sheets, wool underlay and a cotton and/or a feather duvet. Chocolates, fresh fruit, tea/coffee making facilities.

The Peninsula suite The Peninsula suite consists of the Manapai room. This room has a Queen bed and a sitting room. Originally two rooms, but now opened up together through an archway, this room has table and chairs, TV, microwave, fridge & tea/coffee making facilities, chocolates, fresh fruit, bathrobes. And the Peninsula room, a separate second bedroom with King/Twin bed.
The Peninsula suite has sole use of a private bathroom in the hallway. This bathroom is just across the hallway from the Manapai room and has a bath, toilet and a separate shower. Bathrobes and toiletries are provided. Harbour views.

The Peninsula suite is ideal for a couple, but is also suitable for a family or friends travelling together using both bedrooms. The Peninsula suite is also ideal for a self contained stay without breakfast included. See the blue outlined area on our Layout page.

A Sun room with panoramic harbour views for guest use. A lovely little room at the front of the house, sit in the sun and relax, read or just enjoy the views.

Relax in the downstairs Guest lounge, breakfast is served here in the morning at your leisure if requested.. Wireless internet access is available throughout the house or on our guest computer in the downstairs office.

B reakfast is served at your convenience. Enjoy a gourmet breakfast, cooked or continental, with our homemade fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and muesli, sliced meats and cheeses, freshly baked croissants & rolls and breads served with good coffee or tea of your choice.

T he Otago Peninsula is well known for its Royal Albatross Colony, Yellow-eyed Penguins, Little Blue Penguins, seals and sealions. There are many walkways, secluded beaches and wonderful views. A wonderful area for walkers or birdwatchers.
L arnach Castle, the Marine Studies Aquarium and Glenfalloch Gardens are nearby, as are the many local arts and crafts studios.
T here are several local cafés and restaurants on the Otago Peninsula. Evening dining is available at Portobello or Macandrew Bay, both a five minute drive from our house. Dunedin has many restaurants and is a 20 minute drive away.
